Raised on fanciful bedtime stories and dad jokes, it would have been impossible for me to reach adulthood without a deep appreciation of the power of a well-told tale and snort-worthy humor, both of which have helped me through a tragedy or two. (Seriously, you don’t want to sit next to me at a funeral… or maybe you do. I don’t know. It could be fun.) At any rate, I’m glad to report that after an exceptionally imaginative childhood and a slightly aimless youth, I settled down with a boy who made me laugh and we had a few kids of our own.

But you didn’t come here to read all that… You came for the books, right?

My published works include:

and coming in October 2021,

Lest you think I’m only about fantasy, I’m currently working on a YA Contemporary series about a girl who won’t be outdone by boys and a stand-alone YA epistolary novel about a boy whose perfect life is crumbling and a girl who’s learning to be the heroine of her own story.

Oh, I also work as a developmental editor at Anaiah Press because writing my own stories wasn’t enough. When the opportunity arose, I jumped at the opportunity to help other authors make their stories shine. Basically, playing with words is my jam.

Every so often, I post writerly news and random thoughts to Twitter (@AuthorLisaDunn) and Facebook (Author Lisa Dunn). You can find my books online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

      1. I was looking for Angelique to show my granddaughter, Ula. She read Book one and liked it and wants to read the others, so I guess I’d better get them. I’m trying to remember the name of your blog. Girl with now name, I think. Off to google.

  1. Hi Lisa, I’ve missed you guys at SCWA meetings. Been busy getting Dark Corner of War ready to send out into the world via CreateSpace. Will have a formal announcement soon. Good luck with your new book. I look forward to reading it. Love that picture of you. It’s so beautiful and natural. Happy Mother’s Day. Donna

  2. Just got a moment in my whirlwind life. I’ve not deleted your message because I knew I’d find a moment to share with you. I love your honesty and humility. What I find fascinating is the contrast I know about you. You are a talented and an important voice in writing. My friend, you are an AUTHOR! See you at critique group.

  3. Congratulations on the upcoming new release. That’s awesome…I’m not sure how you found the time and motivation to accomplish so much when the rest of us were baking bread and doing puzzles and running out of Netflix to watch. I can’t wait to have your new book in my hands–I know a few other people who are eager to read it, too.

    PS. I love the picture.

    1. Thank you, Amy! I can’t wait for you to have HEARKEN in hand! As for when I found time to write, dough has to rise, I dislike jigsaw puzzles (word puzzles are fine), and has any one checked on Carole Baskin lately?

  4. Hello Lisa! Would you be interested in doing an interview about your book ‘Grit of Berth and Stone?’ Please feel free to DM me on Twitter (@theajennda) or send me an email jennromano22 at gmail.
